5/5/10: Mother's Day Dinner with wines June 21 – Fresh and Local Dinner with Guest Chef, Michael Touhy (Chef/Owner of Atlanta’s Woodfire Grill) with Wines by David Harris of Blackstock Vineyards, Dahlonega, Georgia. Chef Tuohy will feature local products in the preparation of a multi-course showcase dinner. The use of local products will focus on organic and sustainable North Georgia vegetables, herbs, fruits, dairy, locally milled grains and Georgia raised meats - all with a focus on freshness. The dinner includes Georgia produced wines from Blackstock Vineyards. David Harris, the owner/winemaker, will offer a wine tasting and discussion starting at 5:30pm. Dinner at 7:00pm. Cost is $90.00 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Oh, and as to the menu. Chef Touhy prefers to cook only what is fresh and available that day. So he probably will not settle on his menu until he gets up to North Georgia that morning and visits our local farms and produce markets. Therefore, if you would like to attend this dinner you should have an omnivore’s palate. Likely meat selections include local trout, chicken, pork and quail. As for the vegetables, by the end of June we should have a large variety for Michael to select from. David G. Darugh 7/4: Fourth of July picnic/dinner with live music.
